The Storms of Life and Fiction

How does a life change – especially in the mystical land of New Orleans amid hurricanes?

Halfway to Impossible isn’t just a beautiful face – although we do love the cover – it’s a great story.

Halfway to Impossible by M.R. Koch

Max Orbach is teetering recklessly between the two opposing forces of his unfulfilled wife, Caroline, and his troubled best friend, Sam, who obsessively pursues a mysterious woman in New Orleans. The protagonist struggles to understand his place in the changing professional and social landscape of the early 2000s while major hurricanes (Sandy in New York, Katrina in New Orleans) randomly shape the course of his life.

Max Orbach is teetering recklessly between the two opposing forces of his unfulfilled wife, Caroline, and his troubled best friend, Sam, who obsessively pursues a mysterious woman in New Orleans. The nonlinear story bounces around within the first two decades of the 21st century, as the protagonist struggles to understand his place in the changing professional and social landscape of the early 2000s. Meanwhile, major hurricanes (Sandy in New York, Katrina in New Orleans) seem to randomly shape the course of his life.

Dark, cynical, surreal and sardonically funny, The Red Wing Chronicles is a unique hybrid of a book. Narrated from the point of view of a man sinking into the abyss as he reflects upon his traumatic life and a childhood of sickness and abuse, while haunted by the ghost of a sadistic father. Dark memories are unleashed, and questions and reflections abound regarding the fragile, illusory nature of memory, the tenuousness of sanity, the hypocrisy of authority and the subjectivity of morality. Part memoir, part philosophical rant in a stream of consciousness frenzy, this is the story of one man’s tightrope walk between madness and memory while wearing and being guided by the greatest pair of shoes ever cobbled.

Tour with us in the country of love

“Moving and often heart-wrenching tales drawn from the depths of human experience.” Kirkus Review

From award winning author Jo Rousseau comes her second book of short fiction. In these beautifully crafted stories, the author creates sensitive and realistic characters who have no passport, no roadmap to the country of love. In “Reading to My Mother,” a family deals with keeping their aging mother at home, questioning whether they can trust their youngest sibling who reappears after years of absence. Is the love of family strong enough to navigate these unfamiliar roads? “Johnsonville” gives us Kathy, a second time bride, on her way to a future husband who will spend his life in prison. Rousseau, in these stories tells us the truth about love…that we are all tourists in the country of love.
